Un fugaz repaso por las novedades discográficas aparecidas en las últimas semanas de esta temporada estival.
Shut Down The Streets (Matador, 2012) será el título del tercer disco en solitario del líder de The New Pornographers, y lo adelanta con I´m not talking. Volvemos a Europa, porque nos vamos hasta Reims, de donde son The Bewitched Hands, banda francesa que anticipa su nuevo álbum con el EP Thank You, Goodbye, It’s Over (SME France, 2012). Del pop ochentero de los franceses pasamos al indie soul comercial de los británicos The Heavy, con su tercer disco titulado The Glorious Dead (Counter Records, 2012). The Souljazz Orchestra son canadienses, aunque no lo parezca, porque en su cuarto trabajo, Solidarity (Strut Records, 2012) encontramos toda clase de influencias que pasan por Senegal o Brasil, como es en el single Cartão Postal. Una de las canciones más remezcladas de las últimas semanas para las pistas de baile es Get Free, a cargo de Major Lazer, nombre tras el que está el DJ y productor estadounidense Thomas Wesley Pentz, más conocido por su nombre artístico, Diplo, y que cuenta con la colaboración vocal de Amber Coffman de los Dirty Projectors. No podía faltar dos de las promesas soul del momento: el americano Frank Ocean, con su primer álbum,Channel ORANGE (Island Def Jam Musi Group, 2012), y con Sweet Life, donde recuerda a Stevie Wonder, y el británico Michael Kiwanuka, con su nuevo single, Bones, extraído de su debut Home Again (Polydor, 2012). Por último, la canción que abre el esperado nuevo trabajo de Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, titulado Mature Themes (4ad, 2012).
