En el calendario de 1983 tenemos anotados. En nuestro país es noticia durante todo el año la expropiación de Rumasa. Fuera ganamos enteros, cuando Jose Luis Garci gana el Oscar a mejor película extranjera por Volver a Empezar. En septiembre cazas soviéticos derriban por error un avión comercial surcoreano y fallecen los 269 ocupantes que viajaban en el vuelo 007 de Korean Air. En octubre el ejército de los Estados Unidos, transportados en avión y apoyados por helicópteros de combate, invaden la isla caribeña de Granada. La desgracia se abate sobre nuestro país en diciembre: dos accidentes de avión en Barajas y el incendio de la discoteca Alcalá 20. La nota positiva la ponía la selección española: España ganaba por 12 goles a 1 a Malta en el Estadio Benito Villamarín de Sevilla.
La apuesta en salas, emisoras de radio y televisión por lo nuevo era constante. En televisión la polémica llegaba de la mano de Las Vulpes, que cantaban en el progama Caja de Ritmos Soy una zorra: el asunto llegaría hasta las Cortes y terminaría con la destitución del director del programa, Carlos Tena. En febrero se lanzaba por vez primera al mercado el CD. Nosotros seguíamos con El Vinilo, como cantaban Betty Troupe, una de las incipientes bandas que tuvieron un enorme éxito aquel año, junto a Vídeo o Luna. Una notoriedad que fue tan fulminante como efímera. Aunque tenían menos reflejo en las listas de ventas, ya empezaban a sonar en las emisoras los primeros discos de algunos de los que serían grupos clave a lo largo de la década: Golpes Bajos, Danza Invisible, La Dama se Esconde, los Burros, Gabinete Caligari, Elegantes, Esclarecidos, Pistones, estos últimos con un número uno con El pistolero, al año siguiente. También estuvieron en los primeros puestos Tino Casal (Embrujada) y Alaska y Dinarama (Perlas ensangrentadas) o los Mecano (Barco a Venus).
