El veterano sello lo hace con Stars Rock Kill (Rock Stars), un disco de versiones que han formado parte de todo su catálogo a lo largo de todos estos años.
Kill Rock Stars es un sello independiente cofundado por Slim Moon y Tinuviel Sampson en Olympia, Washington. Moon tenía la intención de que fuera su medio para lanzar discos de spoken word en formato siete pulgadas, pero al estar en un área del país que es tan diversa en géneros, no pudo evitar expandirse a distintos reinos musicales, entre ellos los de varias bandas de riot grrrl, algunas de las cuales, especialmente Bikini Kill, generaron gran atención por la prensa. Después de quedar impresionada por Elliott Smith, la cantante y compositora Mary Lou Lord – que era por entonces novia de Slim Moon- le invitó a hacer una gira con ella y lo ayudó a firmar con Kill Rock Stars, que publicó sus discos Elliott Smith (1994) y Either/Or (1995), este último el álbum más vendido del músico. En 2020 el sello celebró el 25 aniversario del álbum homónimo de Elliott Smith invitando a distintos artistasa grabar versiones de las canciones de aquel disco. Con la misma idea en mente, sello quiso así celebrar de nuevo el 30 aniversario del sello en 2021 ampliando la idea que abarcase todos los lanzamientos de Kill Rock Stars.
