El productor de algunos de los mejores discos de Bob Dylan y Johnny Cash murió el viernes en Nashville a los 83 años.
Johnston empezó produciendo a través del sello Columbia a la cantante Patti Page, antes de ser asignado a Bob Dylan, con quien trabajó en proyectos señalados como Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde, John Wesley Harding y Nashville Skyline.
A lo largo de los 60 y 70, Johnston trabajaría en algunos de los álbumes más grandes e influyentes del sello Columbia para artistas como Simon & Garfunkel, Marty Robbins, Flatt and Scruggs, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, the Byrds y otros.
